About Arkana Kabinett

What Arkana Kabinett covers and what it does not.

Arkana Kabinett is a small cabinet of notes on tarot cards as objects of art and cultural history: where the deck came from, how its suits and trumps developed, and how two famous decks, the Tarot de Marseille and the Rider–Waite–Smith, came to define how tarot looks.

Tarot ohne Orakel

The motto means "tarot without the oracle". The site does not offer readings, free or paid, and it does not claim that cards predict events. It looks at the pictures, the history and the people who made them.

About this address

This domain was previously used by a German-language website offering free online tarot readings. That site and its operators are not connected to Arkana Kabinett, and none of its content has been carried over.

Who writes it

The notes are compiled by a small editorial team interested in the history of playing cards. No academic credentials are claimed; facts are linked to published references where they appear.
